Simply adjust the tamper's depth until the base rests on the rim of the portafilter basket, place your portafilter on a flat surface, and press down evenly and firmly!

    1. Adjust the tamper depth.
    2. Place your portafilter on a flat, sturdy surface.
    3. With your elbow at a 90-degree angle, press firmly down on the portafilter.
    4. Check for an even tamp: the espresso bed should be perfectly flat and level, with no slopes or broken pieces.
    5. Wipe away any espresso grounds from the rim of your portafilter.
    6. Brew delicious, evenly extracted espresso!

No prior barista experience is required. We’ll teach you everything from espresso setup and milk steaming to workflow and service. If you already have barista skills, this course will help you refine them and apply them in the context of ownership and operations.
